The corporate IT organization of a $14.8 billion, Fortune 500 global manufacturer had a Project Management Organization (PMO) that focused on the execution of large projects but less-so on the prioritization, selection and measurement of projects within their global portfolio. With an annual IT spend of more than $250 million and a strategy pitted on increasing project spend through simplifying their IT environment, the Global IT organization needed better visibility into their end-to-end project portfolio and which projects could deliver the most value.


Prior to implementation, our team worked collaboratively with their Global PMO organization to design a new methodology to control their global portfolio of projects, heighten efficiency, prioritize efforts, and ultimately drive return on investment.  The methodology focuses on:

  • Creating an environment that encourages collaborative decision making and alignment between IT administration, IT centers of excellence, and internal business customers across the globe
  • Minimizing financial and organizational risks in terms of business impact
  • Ongoing measurement of project ROI to influence future decision making


Taking the time to design the new PPM methodology ahead of implementation drastically reduced the costs and timeframes associated with technology implementation (Planview).  Additionally, our engagement resulted in:
