A hospice and home health company has experienced significant growth, both organic and through acquisition, including an exciting joint venture with a major health network. It recently combined each company’s home health and hospice assets in the western Pennsylvania region to create a new, fully integrated and industry-leading provider of post-acute care services.
One of the company’s differentiators has been a true focus on leveraging technology to deliver innovative healthcare at home. Their commitment to investing in this area from the beginning has helped to fuel the company’s expansion and will be a key factor in the profitable delivery of services across a higher volume, geographically diverse footprint. However, leadership is not convinced that they have the right people in the right IT roles. With rapid acquisitions, no clear delineation of roles and responsibilities exists, nor is there any list of process or documentation of any tasks being regularly performed. IT leadership needs to ensure their organization is well-positioned to support the business moving forward.
BusinessForward provided an IT organizational assessment solution. Our team evaluated and made recommendations on IT operational best practices, processes, policies and procedures, and organizational design and capacity. These recommendations were prioritized based on several factors, including, but not limited to business risk and security. The processes that were assessed were depicted under three categories: Business Drivers, Infrastructure and Application and Service Level Management.
At the culmination of the project a clear, actionable roadmap was provided for their team to implement and operationalize the recommendations over time.
The customer’s objective of wiring the IT organization appropriately for future growth was met. Our solution ensures that the right people are in the right place with roles and responsibilities clearly documented and understood. There is now visibility over additional organizational requirements to meet current and future customer needs. The proactive plan we provided will continue to position the technology organization as a driver of business growth and one of the company’s strategic assets.
